Elliott Erwitt allegedly said, “The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.” I really get this idea. Especially when, during a conversation, it becomes so apparent that our fellow conversant does not understand our words; or we theirs. I suppose all the arts, other than poetry and literature, provide this one-way self-expression without words. Dancing with others provides a powerful, wordless “conversation.” Some forms of music allow, or even promote “Call and Response.” I often wish my photographs and drawings could dance with other’s.
As they are a response to the call of light…
followed by silence…
waiting… in stillness…
listening with the eyes…
to the whispers…

listening with the eyes…
to the whispers…
