Sadness

by imagist on May 23, 2017

A bombing in Manchester, 22 young people dead, and over 50 wounded.
Stupidity in seats of power; climate change denial; and toxic poisoning of life support systems.
An overcast day. Does the personal need to become ever smaller
require that I sell all the tools of what was once my trade, craft and art?
Like the wonderful, though aged, Hasselblad system?
Do these represent the last photographs I create with this camera?
Too little sleep. Too many aches: of body, mind, heart and soul. Sadness.

George:
Thank you.
Once again poetry of words and images.
Indeed, how can we give up beautiful and fully functional partners from our lifelong journey?
I have decided my instruments are commensurate with my talent and if I am to make art in the time I have remaining, it will be with those partners I know well enough to use by touch.
There is a time to change and a time to resist change.
You have led me to think of changes.
Again, my thanks.

George, feeling the need to respond, but I don’t know what to say. Your work is beautiful, don’t stop. We many/most of us feel the same sad, chilling feelings of anger, frustration, uncertainty, paralysis.

Part of being alive is to feel, react. Our time will come.

You warm my heart each time you grace me with your words Al. I too feel gratitude knowing you’re out there, occasionally looking and speaking with me.

Oh I won’t “stop” Steve. Surely not when people like yourself take the time to look and comment. Our visual and verbal dialogues will continue. I’ve just grown weary of loss, down sizing, moving, restarting, over and over again.
